Our ethos

A home for the curious, ambitious, and deeply passionate.

Relentlessly curious.

Obsessively ambitious.

Fiercely passionate.

Whimsically playful.

Unapologetically original.

A shared home

The Atelier is a community co-working and co-creation space in San Francisco, shared with people pursuing work in technology, creative arts, research, everything in between, and endeavors we have yet to see.

We are the space for laser-focused execution, childlike exploration, and the cross-pollination of people, experiences, knowledge, and ideas; for following a question, working on an idea, creating from the heart, and learning about it all from one another.

Our principles

  1. Follow where your attention leads.

Your attention is your greatest asset. Follow it with curiosity, and let your intuition guide you.

  2. Stay open.

Meet unfamiliar perspectives without rushing to judge. Let information flow. Stay connected to yourself and the world.

  3. Steer toward truth.

Be honest about what you know, learn from others, test assumptions, and be willing to change your mind.

  4. Get messy.

Play, create, code, tinker, experiment. Fall in love with the process, and let it become whatever it becomes.

  5. Honor the space.

Be mindful of your actions, others’ boundaries, shared spaces, and those around you.

  6. Treat others with the utmost care.

We are bound by a deep care for our work, our process, our creations, our passions, those around us, and humanity itself.

Who it’s for

Individuals and teams across technology, creative arts, and research; rigorous, curious, and caring people working on something they are deeply passionate about.

From software, to research, to cinematography, to writing, to creative technology, to design, to everything in between and what we haven’t imagined yet, our throughline is a deep passion that drives the work we do.

A note from the founder

I have dreamed of creating a safe, beautiful, and vast environment for deep work and creative flow. The moment I stepped foot into this space on the top floor, with sunlight pouring through the loft’s tall arched windows and pooling across its century-old wooden floors, I knew in my gut this was the one. Walking through it gives me the same feeling of both vastness and smallness I feel when I am surrounded by redwoods; the space opens in all directions, with its black steel beams reaching far above, and its walls stretching further than you expect. It fills me with a deep gratitude for this world, for simply being alive, and for the gifts of awareness, agency, and creation itself. It is a blessing and joy to be able to bring The Atelier to life in such a space.

It is an honor to introduce The Atelier, a 10,745 square foot community co-working and co-creation space in the heart of San Francisco for the curious, ambitious, and deeply passionate.

I envision it as a home for people and teams pursuing work in technology, creative arts, research, everything in between, and endeavors we have yet to see; for laser-focused execution, childlike exploration, and creating from the heart; for the cross-pollination of people, experiences, knowledge, and ideas; for falling in love with the process and learning about it all together.

I have dreamed of creating a safe, beautiful, and vast environment for deep work and creative flow. The moment I stepped foot into this space on the top seventh floor, with sunlight pouring through the loft’s tall arched windows and pooling across its century-old wooden floors, I knew in my gut this was the one. The building itself has witnessed twelve decades of San Francisco history; from its beginnings as the home of the California Casket Company, designed by Albert Pissis, the architect of the Hibernia Bank, to surviving the 1906 earthquake, to housing Y Combinator on its second floor in the late 2010s. I felt immense awe for its enduring beauty across decades, and for the care that has been put into the building itself.

The Atelier’s goal is to honor the ethos of San Francisco as the place for innovation, optimism, and living the future in the now, where anything is possible, and to provide a new sacred space within it.

If this sounds like the place for you too, I would love to share this space with you, and encourage you to apply for membership.
